Communications Strategist & Event Coordination - Temp job - NASA
MORI Associates is looking for a talented, reliable, deadline-driven Communications Strategist to join our team supporting NASA at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. This position requires a communication strategist/public affairs representative for NASA’s STEM initiatives.
This position is onsite full time at Johnson Space Center. Responsibilities for this job include the following:
Communication Strategy/Outreach and Engagement Tasks
- Temporary support for NASA and outreach events and special projects for a minimum of 2 months (May 26-July 31). Candidate must be available for a virtual event the week of June 8th - 12th and an on-site event the week of July 12th- 17th.
- Support communication and outreach efforts that align with NASA OSTEM engagement initiatives
- Participate or lead planning meetings, respond to questions and update the project management of scheduled task items. Set up and run internal meetings to coordinate needs
- POC for SMEs to provide guidance and feedback regarding events, mission, or outreach support
- Develop event plans and work with a variety of teams to provide support from conception to completion such as collecting content for messaging (email campaigns, website, agenda, pre-event information, graphics, flyers, tours, venue logistics, post event follow-up)
- Provide on-site support during events and serve as a facilitator during various activities
- Create lessons learned document post event
- Manage the logistics for the on-site OSTEM activities and other tasks as required to enable a professional presence at each event or conference. Follow up with event or mission POC(s) on items related to task work.
- Develop presentations, talking points, event guides
- Establish working groups for larger projects (as needed)
- Write articles highlighting events
- Relay status of all engagement or public affairs efforts and provide event feedback to NASA POCs
- Identify opportunities for stakeholders to engage with OSTEM on educational activities
Requirements:
BA/BS Journalism, Multimedia, Communications, or related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in strategic communications (including event coordination) preferred but not required.
- Must be able to write to a range of audiences and creatively explain complex technical ideas in an approachable, compelling way.
- Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work in a dynamic environment.
- Experience with editing and familiarity with AP style are desired.
- Flexibility to travel depending on mission and client requirements.
Due to the nature of the confidential government work involved, US citizenship is required.
Salary Range: $72k to $80k Based on experience and assessment of capabilities.
